What is an eSIM and how does it work?

An eSIM is a digital SIM built into many current phones. Instead of inserting a physical card, you install a mobile plan using a QR code or a provider app.

Travel eSIMs usually give you mobile data only. You can keep your normal phone number active for calls and messages while using the eSIM for data abroad.

Buy and install your plan before you travel whenever possible, then activate it once your trip begins according to the provider instructions.
